So now I've been here for a month and it's starting to feel a bit like home.
A small typhoon is currently "ravaging" Taiwan, but it's far south and since Taipei is situated far north it's not really typhoony.. only rainy and a bit windy... for 36 hours. I'll soon get on my scooter and ride to work through this weather to work. Hopefully some of the kids wont come and so it'll be a bit calmer today.
I haven't mentioned the aikido training much and this is simply because it's always there so I don't really think too much about it. We do practice a few hours/day in general (stretching and qi gong included). In a month I have actually learned some stuff and my teacher is talking about soon trying for the next grade. The point where I realized I had actually learned something was when I was training with a few guys who are bodyguards and white belts... and I could actually teach them a thing or two. They were bulky and muscular and I had to be totally awesome cool and explain that it was more about techinques and balancing - as opposed to brute force.
Noel (one of the two people who just moved in) has been doing boxing for the better part of his life and he asked if I was interested in what he called a "striking class". Of course I was, so I supposed I'll learn how to throw some punches sooner or later too.
Peace out.
